 A fourth generation Washingtonian, Mr. Luchs served as the President and Chief Executive Officer of one the areas oldest and largest full service real estate firms, Shannon & Luchs Company. The firm was started in 1906 and employed over 3,000 professionals in 60 branch offices, managed over 8 million square feet of commercial space and over 5,000 apartments. It sold more houses since 1906 than any of its competitors and was part of some of the greatest growth in the history of the nation's capital. The firm was sold in 1993 to two firms, Weichert Realtors and the Polinger Companies, now known as Polinger Shannon & Luchs.
Mr. Luchs experience is across most facets of the real estate field including commercial and residential brokerage, appraisal and consultation, mortgage loans, property management, insurance and development. He was the third member of his family to serve as the President of the Washington D.C. Board of Realtors and was named Realtor of the year in 1983. On a national level, he served the National Association of Realtors as a member of the Board of Directors, Executive Committee and was a Governor of the Realtors National Marketing Institute.
He has represented the National Association of Realtors with property acquisitions and helped them quadruple their return on investment over a four year period. Since the sale of Shannon & Luchs Company he has operated Luchs Advisory Services and Luchs Real Estate Company. He and his wife, Susan, live in Potomac, Maryland.
